Genre Research: Drama

Common CAMS in the genre- High, low, and aerial angles. Over-the-shoulder, wide shots, close-up and Point-of-view shots. Also uses pan, dolly, and tilt camera movements. 

  

Common CLAMPS in the genre- Depends on the movie, but costumes tend to be normal, everyday clothing. Makeup is natural, and not a lot of special effects makeup is used, unless a character is wounded. Drama films use the natural light to focus on creating drama through the storyline. 

 

Common Editing in your genre- Shot/Reverse shot to show both sides of a conversation, eyeline match, fade-in/fade-out, and long takes. 

 

Example films of your genres- The Founder, A Star is Born, Anne, The social network, Titanic.  

 

Common sound in your genre- Diegetic sound and Nondiegetic sound, ambient sound, voiceovers and dialogue.  

 

What elements of the genre that you like? - We find that Dramas are more relatable as they tend to display real life scenarios rather than made up ones.  


What elements of the genre do not appeal to you? - Some elements that do not appeal to us are that they exaggerate many real-life scenarios. Another element we didn't find appealing was that a lot of dramas are cliché.

Production Blog: Filming Tomorrow

 Hello Again and Welcome back to the blog. Last blog I discussed what my group would be doing to film the music video and who would be doing what. Me and my group will be filming tomorrow. We have also made adjustments to the schedule. Me and my group will be filming tomorrow but we will only shoot scenes that require 3 people or less. We are doing this because most of the people we have contacted said they weren't able to help film on a weekday. Because of this, we have moved the rest of the filming to Friday, December 16th. We plan to film solo dances as well as the intro to the music video. There won't be much people around the area on a Tuesday afternoon so it works out perfectly. We also plan on scouting out some good locations to shoot at on Friday. After the first filming session I also plan on editing some of the clips together so I don't have to do it all in one day.   Common sounds found in film: Suspenseful Music: Tense and eerie musical scores or soundtracks are commonly used to build suspense and enhance the overall atmosphere of horror films. Creaking or Footsteps: Sounds of creaking floors, footsteps, or other subtle noises can create a sense of unease and anticipation. Breathing or Whispering: Soft, ominous breathing or whispering sounds are often employed to heighten tension and evoke a feeling of being watched or followed. Jump Scares: Sharp, sudden sounds or music cues, known as jump scares, are frequently used to startle the audience and intensify moments of fright. Heartbeat Pounding: The sound of a heartbeat, either normal or irregular, can be used to convey fear and anxiety, especially during intense scenes. Planning Blog: Storyboard

  In page 1, Our main character, Thomas wakes up and greets his friend at a table. His friend is eating cereal. They see the clock and leave for work. Thomas drops off his friend and then he goes to work. On page 2, Thomas begins heading home from work. He notices his friend isnt there to be picked up but heads home without thinking much of it and goes home thinking he might be doing something. He wakes up to his friend not being at home and tries to report him as missing before forgetting his name alltogether. He says he will call back and looks for documents until he finds a paper mentioning his friend. His first name is riley. In page 3, after knowing his friend's first name is Riley, he goes to his friends work and asks his receptionist if any "rileys" work there. The receptionist finds 1 riley. Riley Drew.
