Genre Research: Thriller


Common CAMS in the genre- High angles, Close-up shots, Tracking, Panning, Zooms, Tilted shots, Extreme Long Shots, Over-the-shoulder, low angles, hand-held camera movement.

  

Common CLAMPS in the genre- The dark color palette in thriller films creates a more ominous and eerie mood. Low level lighting is also used to create the eerie and suspenseful tone associated with the thriller genre. Everyday clothing is worn in many thriller movies. This creates realism within the film and creates a relatable connection between the character and the audience. A limited amount of makeup is also used to make characters more relatable for the audience. 


Common Editing in your genre- Many jump cuts are included to create distortion in a character or scene and crosscutting is essential to build suspense.  


Example films of your genres- A Quiet Place, Bird Box, Premonition, Fight Club  


Common sound in your genre- Dramatic, eerie music to build suspense and tension.  


What elements of the genre that you like? - We like how the thriller genre is able to keep the audience on the edge of our seats throughout the whole film. We also like that most thriller characters are everyday people creating relatability between the audience and the character on screen. 


What elements of the genre do not appeal to you? - An element of this genre that does not appeal to us is that some movies in this genre tend to be extreme and can get very disturbing and gory.

Production Blog: Filming Tomorrow

 Hello Again and Welcome back to the blog. Last blog I discussed what my group would be doing to film the music video and who would be doing what. Me and my group will be filming tomorrow. We have also made adjustments to the schedule. Me and my group will be filming tomorrow but we will only shoot scenes that require 3 people or less. We are doing this because most of the people we have contacted said they weren't able to help film on a weekday. Because of this, we have moved the rest of the filming to Friday, December 16th. We plan to film solo dances as well as the intro to the music video. There won't be much people around the area on a Tuesday afternoon so it works out perfectly. We also plan on scouting out some good locations to shoot at on Friday. After the first filming session I also plan on editing some of the clips together so I don't have to do it all in one day. Planning Blog: Storyboard

  In page 1, Our main character, Thomas wakes up and greets his friend at a table. His friend is eating cereal. They see the clock and leave for work. Thomas drops off his friend and then he goes to work. On page 2, Thomas begins heading home from work. He notices his friend isnt there to be picked up but heads home without thinking much of it and goes home thinking he might be doing something. He wakes up to his friend not being at home and tries to report him as missing before forgetting his name alltogether. He says he will call back and looks for documents until he finds a paper mentioning his friend. His first name is riley. In page 3, after knowing his friend's first name is Riley, he goes to his friends work and asks his receptionist if any "rileys" work there. The receptionist finds 1 riley. Riley Drew.
