Creative Critical Reflection - Commercial

Image
1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My commercial used many of the common elements within sports drink commercials. It uses bright lighting as well as other elements. In one scene, the Gatorade suddenly appears on a bench. By doing this scene, we were able to incorporate fantasy elements into our commercial. I also included an athlete in the commercial who is participating in various sports throughout the film. By doing this, the commercial is able to target a specific audience, which is athletes. The song that I found, "Jump Around" by House of Pain, fit well as it emphasizes all of the ongoing action in the commercial. The lighting and setting is also fit with conventions in place, as lighting is bright and the setting is outside, both relating to sports and activities. In addition, the props used were a Gatorade Bottle, an (American) Football, a glove, a tennis racket, a tennis ball, a basketball, and sho...

Gatorade Commercial

Image
This is my group's first major project that we worked on together. It was for Gatorade and it details an athlete doing many physical activities and represents Gatorade as a drink to assist in these activities. Looking back at the project, there were many things that had been improved from the beginning of the project. There were a couple things I would have changed if I were to go back in time, but not much. My groupmate and I were happy with the way the project turned out.

Production Blog - Editing

Image
Hello Again! Today I will be telling you all about my process of editing all of the clips. So, first off, Lucas had sent me all of the clips after filming. The next step was for me to watch all of the clips and compile them into the iMovie project all in order. After this, I had decided which ones to use as we took multiple takes. After that, I had put all of the clips in order on the project. Then there was a problem... It was going to be too long. So now I had to cut some clips off. It was starting to become crammed so I tried to cut off all clips evenly by around half a second. It still wasn't done yet so I decided to put together editing effects for the final product. I used a lot of action effects such as split screen. After editing everything together, I noticed that somehow, it had actually went under the time limit. I must have miscalculated the length of the videos in the split screen. After this, I reviewed everything to make sure it was good to go. The running scene sti...

Production Blog - Filming

Image
Greetings! Today I will be telling you about our process of filming the commercial. At first, we were going to film on October 12th. We were gonna film at noon, but when we both got there, it had started raining. So then we had begun to plan for the 14th. This time, we had looked at the forecast, and it had said that there would be a 30% chance of rain for the day. We planned on filming at noon. When we got there it was quite cloudy, but we begun filming. We started by filming the scenes that took place on the Football field and the Track. This was because they were furthest away from the parking lot. While filming it had begun raining. This time, we just decided to film anyways. It happened to look cooler than it would look if it hadn't rained. It really added to the theme of refreshing yourself and looked really good while paired with a sports drink. After filming on the track, we had moved to the Basketball courts and Tennis courts. The problem with this, is that they were sort...

Production Blog - Getting everything I need for the commercial.

Image
Hello! Today I will be talking to you about what I did to get ready for the commercial. In order to film for the commercial, we needed props, so I first went to the dollar store to see what they had and so I can save money. All they had was a rainbow basketball which wasn't going to do the job for us as we needed to be official with the sports balls as we are marketing the commercial towards athletes. So, after I headed to the Publix nearby to get the Gatorade. At Publix, the blue Gatorade was on sale so I opted to buy that one. We didn't find any other props at Publix. Next, I went to Target to see if they had anything. I needed a football and tennis balls. When I checked the sports section, Target had a leather red and black football which I bought. I had also seen a bag of 16 Tennis Balls on sale at Target, so I had gotten those too. The rest of the props I needed was a Tennis Racket, Basketball and Football Gloves. I will borrow a Tennis Racket from a neighbor who plays te...

Planning for my sports drink commercial

Props:  Because my group decided on a sports drink commercial, we decided we would choose Gatorade. would obviously need a bottle of Gatorade . Other than that, we will need sports equipment, this will include a basketball, an American football, American football gloves, two tennis rackets, and a tennis ball   Costumes/Outfits:  In this commercial, since official Gatorade commercials tend to have athletic people with athletic outfits, we decided to wear the most athletic clothing we own. This includes running shoes, a light T-Shirt, and breathable shorts.   Schedule:   On 10/6/22, research on the conventions within sports drink commercials will take place. On 10/7/22, a plan for the commercial will be made, including the props, costumes, set, and location. On 10/9/22, the storyboard for the commercial will be drawn, including details for each scene.
