Genre Decision: Thriller

Image
We started our decision of what genre our final task would be set in by looking at a list of the various genres there are in film. After thoroughly investigating each genre, we rejected the ones that either our movie couldn't be or weren't what we wanted it to be. We settled on the genres of drama, thriller, and mystery. After deciding on those potential genres, we discussed and considered how our movie's story may fit into each one. We made an effort to envision how our project would turn out given the genre we chose and how much we would enjoy the plot's premise within that genre. If our final task was set in the drama genre, we would have to incorporate love or to focus on how the main character’s friend could lead the main character to success. There were a lot of scratched heads, and we w eren’t interested in the drama genre. We decided to drop it and focus on the mystery and thriller genres. We decided to eliminate each genre by evaluating the plot in the...

Our Pitch

Image
For the final task, after much consideration, we decided on two pitches. The first pitch would be of a guy that lives with his best friend. He and his friend are very close, they do everything together, however, his friend isn't actually real and it is only a hallucination. For our second pitch, we decided to go with a similar idea. This story follows a person who is diagnosed with dementia and it follows the stages of dementia where the person slowly forgets everything they've ever known until not one memory is left and they are not able to take care of themself. The first pitch, of the guy who has a fake friend that is only just a hallucination, this pitch has a very straightforward plot that leaves little room for confusion. It has no special effects so production would be a lot easier. However, on the flip side, there are several cons to this pitch as well. This pitch requires good acting to sell the film. It would also require a lot of different filming spots as the stor...

Group Blog - Final Task | New Group!

For this project, I will be working with Lucas, Angel and Thomas. Angel has been in the same Media Studies class as me for the whole year and had met him for the first time about a week ago. He is nice and he is also has a really efficient work ethic. He seems like a good partner to work with. He seems very productive which will be better because my former groupmates and I were fairly disorganized in the sense that we had to do other things and couldn't start filming until the last possible minute. I knew of Angel earlier this year through mutual friends but haven't truly talked to him until last week. I do not know Thomas; he is a friend of Angel's and he seems nice. I think we will get along well. For the last project, my groupmates and I lived far away from each other which caused a lot of trouble when we had to film. The filming spot was distant for everyone except myself and it made little sense for us to do this again. So that is why I decided to change groups. I am...

Intro Blog - Movie | Hello Again!

Image
Hello Again! I am excited to be back and working on a new project as the last project was fun and the experience was awesome. Last project I had learned a lot about acting and especially filming. Because of the format of the music video we made, there were more shots that had to be filmed by separate people. Because of this, I had gained more experience in filming and had learned a lot about it. I also learned that a lot of planning for the Music Video comes from finding cool spots to film. Obviously, with music videos, you cannot really shoot in the same spot over and over again so it became interesting when trying to find a place for us to make a new shot. I had also learned more about editing. In the project before the last project I had taken a long time cutting all of the videos but while editing the music video I had learned that you can overlap videos instead of cutting the videos individually which sped up the process and made it easier. Another thing I had learned in the ...
